MP3 Player Headphones Buying Tips
Music genres have evolved from the early rock ‘n roll days of The Beatles to today’s emo craze which makes it only inevitable that our listening styles would have its own evolution. From the first models of Walkman to portable CD players to MP3 players, music lovers were able to veer their music experiences away from steamy concert halls and boring living rooms, most especially ever since the society required us to multitask. Eventually, advancement in music headphone technology went with the development of MP3 players itself. These are the first considerations one think about, consciously or unconsciously, before buying MP3 player headphones.
The first thing a buyer should think about is the portability of the headphone. Obviously, someone would rather use an MP3 player because he or she wants to be able to listen to music whenever, wherever he or she likes. After considering the brand of MP3 player that would suit his or her listening needs, the next thing to do is to find the perfect MP3 player headphones that would perfectly accompany his or her gadget anywhere, anytime.
Earbuds also known as in-ear headphones usually come with the MP3 player for free but these are usually the lower end models. However, some higher performance earbuds can be at par with full size headphones in terms of quality without undermining its portability, being lightweight and compact, but they are of course, more costly. Sports headphones or behind-the-neck headphones are also portable but the quality is not as good as the earbuds or a full size headphones. Ear-pad headphones are more affordable and durable and though bulkier compared to earbuds and sport headphones, some ear-pad headphone models are collapsible for easy transport.
With portability does not necessarily come the comfort of using MP3 player headphones. Earbuds, for one, can cause discomfort if the piece is inserted into the ear canal for an extended period. In fact, some people would immediately veer away from the idea of having to put foreign objects in the ears. Ear-pad headphones are far more comfortable since they are made to simply rest on the outer ears. Full size models are also used the same way but their extra-large size makes the ear sweat and can generally make the user feel uncomfortably hot.
When it comes to durability, nothing beats the full size and ear-pad headphones. Earbuds and sports headphones are quite fragile, especially the cables, during storage. Ear pads are also prone to wear and tear when overused. Although some models nowadays have replaceable ear pads, most of them still do not and this will add to the list of what to consider before buying MP3 player headphones.
Most of all, music lovers would not compromise portability with a high-scale music experience brought about by sound quality. Full size models can surely provide an almost-there sound with its maximum bass and volume potential. Most full size headphones are also sealed, meaning it can block outside noises and would ensure surround sound. Some music lovers might not need the sealed model and would opt for the open one especially if they use MP3 players while jogging or commuting, where one should be aware of his or her surroundings while enjoying music. If such is the case, ear-pad headphones are a better alternative. Some quality earbuds are also advisable although these are usually a hard-to-find.
Of course, like most other technological innovation out there, MP3 player headphones are also imperfect manmade wonders. For music lovers who want to take their listening experience to a higher level, there is no freedom from compromise. In the end, you have to set your priorities. If you are okay with a stereo sound that is interrupted by noise every now and then as long you can use it anywhere you like, then that’s you. Some others would rather have their head adorned by a huge speaker if it would mean the best of music enjoyment. Indeed, there is no right or wrong when it comes to music. There is only “taste.”
